Invisalign treatment uses a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that both orthodontists and dentists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces. More than 1.5 million patients have completed or are currently in treatment with this technology.

Why Invisalign…

Invisalign treatment is recommended if you have a misalignment of your teeth. Malocclusion affects 74% of American adults.  There are many different types of malocclusion such as crowding, spacing, deep bite, cross bite, open bite, or edge-to-edge bite. If left untreated, malocclusion can cause periodontal disease and create abnormal stresses in the teeth and jaw muscles causing clenching and/or grinding, which lead to wearing and chipping of the teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign treatment…

The most obvious advantage of the treatment is cosmetic: the aligners are completely transparent. This makes the method particularly popular among adults who want to straighten their teeth without the look of traditional metal braces, which are commonly worn by children and adolescents. In addition, the aligners are marketed as being more comfortable than braces.

Other benefits of these virtually invisible trays are that they are removable, therefore you take them out to eat and when you brush and floss your teeth, there are no metal brackets and wires, and you can see your virtual results and treatment plan before you start so you can visualize the end result.

How Invisalign works…

Each aligner is worn for two weeks and should be in the patient’s mouth approximately 22 hours of the day, only to be out while eating, or flossing and cleaning your teeth and mouth.  Patients “graduate” to a new set of aligners in their treatment series after these two weeks.  The aligners give less force per week and less pain than do fixed appliances (traditional metal braces).
